Review: Hard As It Gets (Hard Ink #1) by Laura Kaye

Blurb

Tall, dark, and lethal…

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey’s tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome–pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. He’s left his military life behind to become co-owner of Hard Ink Tattoo, but Becca is his ex-commander’s daughter. Loyalty won’t let him turn her away. Lust has plenty to do with it too.

With her brother presumed kidnapped, Becca needs Nick. She just wasn’t expecting to want him so much. As their investigation turns into all-out war with an organized crime ring, only Nick can protect her. And only Becca can heal the scars no one else sees.

Desire is the easy part. Love is as hard as it gets. Good thing Nick is always up for a challenge.

My Review

I read Laura Kaye’s novella Hearts in Darkness and I really enjoyed it so I wanted to read more from her for sure. It doesn’t hurt that the cover and title appeal to my ink obsession. I also married a military man so I am a fan of books that feature them.

Did I mention it has Nick Rixey?! Nick is hot. (Bonus: So are his friends Shane, Beckett, Edward, and Derek. [Book two is about Shane.])

Nick and Laura have an instant attraction but his past is an issue for him. It is a past that Becca has no idea about and he wants to keep it that way.

Becca and Nick are forced together when Becca’s safety becomes an issue. As they hunt for Becca’s missing brother using clues they find along the way, they get closer than Nick is comfortable with even though he can’t fight his attraction.

I really loved this book and all of the characters in it. A good story line with suspense, tattoos, humor and a three-legged dog.
