ARC Review: Asher by Jo Raven

Young sports guy

Summary small

Now eighteen, Audrey returns to her hometown for the first time after the accident – the car crash that took her dad and scarred her for life. She’s here to start again. Go to college and have fun. Make new friends. Get over the past.

But the past won’t let go. Asher is here – her first kiss, her first heartbreak. More handsome and distant than ever, he’s still the boy who used to be her best friend. That was before he changed into someone she hardly knows anymore – the boy who started getting into fights and gave her the cold shoulder for years.

Asher isn’t what she needs. In fact, she hates him and should try her best to keep away from him.

Yet her body doesn’t seem to care about how she feels, and maybe, just maybe this time her body got it right. Not that she has much of a choice. Asher draws her like a bright flame, and if she isn’t careful, she’ll burn.

And that may not be such a bad thing after all…

My Reviewsmall

You know I had to read a book with the series title of Inked Brotherhood! The Inked Brotherhood is a group of guys with rough pasts.

This book is about Asher – his way into the brotherhood is quite tragic – and Audrey. Her past is intertwined with Asher’s. Their childhood friendship was destroyed because of the evil actions of another. Neither of them can see a way to fix things after they find themselves thrust back into each other’s lives.

I like that nobody in the story had the perfect thing to say. They are young – Audrey is back in her hometown for college – and they shouldn’t be expected to have all of the answers. These kids are more grown up in some ways because of their pasts but they are still very much restricted by their age when it comes to dealing with things. They have to learn to ask for help and not try to do everything on their own.

This story was well written and has me intrigued about the other Inked Brotherhood members with their matching dragon tattoos.
